Hi i'm abby!

Ever since I was young, I've had a deep love for fashion and art. Even though I chose a technical field for my major, I wanted to find a way to mix my passion for creativity and design with technology. That's when I discovered the Human-Computer Interaction program at CMU, which introduced me to UX design.

For me, UX design is the perfect blend of creativity and technology that I've always sought. It's a field that offers countless opportunities to help people and solve real-world problems. I want to use my creativity and personal experiences to make technology easier to use and improve people's everyday lives.

I’m a junior student-athlete at Carnegie Mellon University majoring in Information Systems with an additional major in Human-Computer Interaction.

VOLLEYBALL

I play libero for CMU's volleyball team. I started playing in sixth grade and have been hooked ever since, enjoying indoor, grass, and sand volleyball.

Being a student-athlete has taught me valuable lessons in time management. Juggling weekend travel, daily practices, strength training, classes, and work has forced me to make the most of my free time. Through volleyball, I've also developed strong communication and teamwork skills that I apply in everyday life.

Here’s my volleyball bio if you’re interested :)

TRAVELING

If I could choose one thing to do for the rest of my life, it would undoubtedly be traveling. My mom's love for exploring different cultures has taken me to many places ever since I was young.

I've been fortunate to spend summers in China, take European trips during breaks, and enjoy camping and hiking across the United States and Canada. These experiences have fueled my passion for exploring new destinations.

This past spring I studied abroad in Amsterdam, and traveled to Antwerp, London, Berlin, Copenhagen, Marrakech, Split, Prague, and Ibiza! I had a life-changing experience and learned a lot about myself; I’m looking forward to returning to Europe for my career sometime in the future.

Having these opportunities to see beautiful sights has also ignited my passion for photography and capturing moments I might never experience again. Here are some of the photos I’ve taken throughout my travels!

I started crocheting over the pandemic in 2020 because I had so much time in my hands. It started with a small tank top and turned into selling tote bags, making sweaters for my parents, and creating small gifts for my friends. This past year, I decided to try my hand at knitting too because I wanted to create things I couldn’t with crocheting.

Being able to create something useful from a ball of yarn and a crochet hook or a pair of needles is a rewarding hobby, and being able to make (from hand) gifts for people I love is now one of my favorite things to do!

The only issue with this hobby is finding the time to do it…
